As I said, Windows XP is vulnerable to view a thumbnail photo type, and by exploiting security holes that an attacker can completely take control of your computer.
To fix this vulnerability until Microsoft is going out a security update here is what you have to do:

Open a command line – command prompt (DOS)

Go to Start, then Run (or try Windows + R key combination), you write something in that box delete and type CMD then press OK

Enter the following command in the new window that appears (usually with a black background) for Windows XP 32-bit:

cacls% WINDIR%\SYSTEM32\shimgvw.dll/E/P everyone: N

After Microsoft will release a software patch for this vulnerability will have to return to default settings and so we will have to run the following command:

cacls% WINDIR%\SYSTEM32\shimgvw.dll/E/ R everyone

I can say that Avast antivirus is my favorite after AVG was a great deal of time my favorite antivirus. After version 7.5 it began to be silly and would consume more and more resources, which makes me to focus my attention by another virus, a more friendly and low computer resources as good as it comes detection and elimination of computer viruses.

What I liked at the new version of Avast 7 is that it seems to move much better than the previous version and resources are not wasted so crazy modulated at least in standby or in working with the same files.

I have not tested it very much, but from what I observed both on a laptop, a virtual machine and a computer with AMD Sempron, if all moves slightly better than with Avast 6 satellite transponder.

Avast 7 news

Besides it’s more friendly with computer resources, Avast 7 comes with some small improvements:

a new installer, much better than the old

interface slightly modified, but many elements of the old

streaming updates, or sites to be watered less and more, something which does nothing but make me happy

substantial improvements to the modules: browser protection, sandboxing and autosandbox

introduced a kind TeamViewer remote support to help your friends, but as expected in this way is much work as hard move to the famous Team Viwer

avast 7 runs on Windows 8 preview makes this virus can run on future Microsoft operating system

tools support import and export facility in the antivirus settings, but from what I remember not tested all its changes, only the essential

Why I should set a Administrator password?

If you have a computer and here I refer to the Desktop and you are the only one who have access, then this article will be useful only if you want to access the computer using Remote Desktop with your Administrator account.
If your laptop or computer is one that you share with several family members or are in a hostel for students as an example, then it is recommended password.

Why? because in this way the one that would like to access data on your account will also have a problem or maybe it will be impossible without proper knowledge.
Since I made a quite laborious introduction, let’s go now to the crux of the problem, namely changing the Administrator account password in a system based on Windows 7 and/or Windows XP.

How do I change the Administrator account password?

Right-click the Computer either on the screen (but only if is not a shortcut) or start menu, then go to Manage

go to Local Users and Groups -> Users, we position ourselves on the Administrator account, right-click on it and go to set password

confirm by pressing Proceed then enter the new password and confirm new password in both boxes.

Press Ok and everything it’s ready!

Perhaps you’ve ever wondered how you can program the computer to turn off alone at a certain time without relying on other programs, so I’ll explain a pretty simple way which is available both in Windows XP and Windows 7:

1. Click the Start button (the button in the lower left corner)

2. Go with your mouse and click Run button
3. In the window that appears is a box that you type the command: shutdown-s-f-tn (where n is the number of seconds will turn off your computer, so you want your PC to be left to say in 2 hours then the command will be something like shudown-s-f-t 7200)

-s means the command for closing

-f means that you want to force command-and-fighting command that is if for example you open a Word file that require rescue or more programs open

-t means that following some figures is the time in which to run the shutdown command

To restart command is the same but only that instead of put-r-s ex: shutdown-r-f-tn

If in case you want to cancel the shutdown or restart command (as long as you set the time more than 5 seconds) you can give the command: shutdown-a, which means the cancellation of shutdown/restart.

I know that a license of Windows is expensive but I also know that it’s a lot of hard work to achieve an operating system and to make each month more and more new updates and this is only a small part of what is going on at Microsoft.

From Windows XP onwards Microsoft has created the protection of its systems operating in XP called WGA (Windows Genuine Advantage) and Windows 7 being called WAT (Windows 7 Activation Technologies).

We all think that you realize that when it comes to anti-piracy protection of operating systems, Microsoft’s is a little mischievous, installing along with other security updates and such protection without user permission. For those who have Windows 7 and woke up with a black screen after a computer restart or open, it means that they have updated operating system, installing and updating software in question: WAT Update (KB971033).

Even if I do not encourage piracy, I have decided to give a solution to remove the KB971033 upgrade, which is also known as the removeWAT.

Download RemoveWAT

This program works only for Windows 7 all versions and NOT go for Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008. Also using this tool will be able to run it and remove after the upgrade KB971033 you can continue to install updates.

One of these could be the message that Windows be it Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7 partition so when some enter a state where for various reasons left or is about to run out of space free, find a message dissimilar to “Low Disk Space”.

So here we have:

10 seconds per session if free space is less than 200MB,

30 seconds every four hours, maximum of two times per session if free space is less than 80MB,

30 seconds every five minutes if free space is under 50MB.

So far as can be seen is quite annoying if you have some urgent work, right?

If this message refers to the operating system partition (the most common cases being about partition “C”), a first solution would be to move all files from the desktop (computer screen),and from My Documents Documents (it still in the operating system partition C:\Documents and Settings\your username\your username ‘Documents\) on another partition where we have enough space.

To benefit from more space on the partition with the operating system I would suggest you to delete temporary files using a very small utility perfect for this.

As you observed the transition from Windows XP to Windows Vista and Windows 7 was quite steep, as introduced new interactive visuals and themes like Aero.
No matter how attractive they would be the graphic effects are large consumers of resources, mainly RAM and processor, and if you have a PC with an average configuration can be times when Windows 7 freezes or responds slowly.
I will present are some tricks to improve the performance:

Disabling Aero Theme and replace with a Basic one. How we do this: Right click on Desktop -> Personalize -> we go to Basic and High Contrast Theme and can select one of these topics (such as Windows 7 Classic).

Disabling Visual Effects. If you want your PC to have a performance and you’re not interested about your windows design, then you have to disable visual effects.
Try this: right click Computer -> Properties -> Advanced System Settings -> Performance (Visual effects, processor scheduling, memory usage, and virtual memory) click on Settings and Visual Effects tab and you can disable visual effects of the operating system.

Disabling User Account Control (UAC). Even if this option is very good for security, for the average user, because he is the only one who has access to the PC, adding extra clicks for each notice by the system can be annoying. And if you have a good antivirus + firewall, disable User Account Control (UAC) will make your life easier. For this you need to go to Control Panel -> User Accounts -> Change User Account Control Settings, select Never Notify. Now you will not get warnings for any document that attempt to download from the Internet.

Disabling automatic starting of processes unseful at boot operating system (Windows 7). How to get to edit programs: Start + R (opens the Run console) -> type msconfig -> System Configuration -> in the Startup tab deselect programs we do not want to automatically start loading the operating system Windows 7.

A fork bomb attack is a type of “denial of service” and is to start a large number of processes that lead to saturation of the table of processes, CPU and memory.

This attack can slow your system or even reach the inability to use and requires a reboot.
Attack name comes from Linux system call “fork” a process which resulted in giving birth to a child process.

Let’s analyze a simple example in bash fork bomb:

bomb() { bomb | bomb &}; bomb

I created a new feature called: bomb, which call itself and redirect their output to another copy of it. The two copies also often run the background so that if the parent is killed not complete its execution and child.

If we run this example on an unprotected server, it most likely would block. To start a fork bomb on a system you do not really need administrative rights, a simple user account was not properly limited enough.
To check the limitations of the current user type the command:

ulimit -a

In our case we are interested in the field: “Max User Processes”. If this field is unlimited, the system is vulnerable.
To protect the system type fork bomb attack can to limit all users outside of the privileged: root. We do this by editing the “/ etc / bash.bashrc” (we need administrative rights) and add the following rules:

if [ `/usr/bin/id -u` -ne 0]; then
ulimit -u 2000 &> /dev/null
else
ulimit -u unlimited
fi

Now the system is not vulnerable because when the user reaches the limit of processes (2000 in this case) will not be creating new processes.
