This tutorial is for those who have an email account with Google and want to make a simple backup of sensitive data or move the email account to another email provider. The program that we will do backup of e-mails and called Gmail Backup is free. Download the first backup program and install it www.gmail-backup.com/download address. Using this is very easy, it has a single window in which we we put your login Gmail account and choose the folder where we want to put emails saved.
WARNING: Before you can do backup, make sure you select the Enable IMAP in your Gmail account settings from section Forwarding and POP / IMAP.
- In Gmail login box enter the current address we have on Gmail (eg firstname.lastname@example.org).
- Gmail password add password to your email address.
- The Backup folder will be the path to the directory where the application will copy emails. As we set to, press the Directory button and choose the folder.
The application has the option to backup only the emails that fall within certain times, Since given start date and will be given to data Before where you make backup.
Button (check) Newest emails only if selected, will set the option that only those emails that are newer to the directory where we saved will be saved, that is what we already have in the directory and email and will not be downloaded.
When I set all the options above, we can press the Backup button below and download email application will start after the criteria specified by you.
If we press the button New Versions Instead, the application will download only the emails that have newer versions than what we already have in the folder. Save backup made by this program can be opened or imported with any email client program, like Thunderbird or Outlook Express.
